Leaholme is a handsome, cream, double-fronted, period detached house, with an enclosed south-facing private rear garden and ample parking space for three cars.
As countless returning guests have testified, Leaholme Cottage is the ideal Northumberland holiday house in an absolutely stunning location in the coastal village of High Newton-by-the-Sea, midway between Alnwick and Bamburgh. It really has everything you need for a perfect seaside holiday.
Furnished to a luxury standard and decorated in restful Farrow and Ball colours, the house provides a relaxing atmosphere enhanced by a selection of beautiful original artwork by local artists.
Dog friendly luxury holiday cottage
This house is also one of the few luxury properties in the area to welcome dogs (pet fee payable), with free dog beds, fleece blankets and a doggy welcome pack to make your pet feel at home. The secure enclosed back garden ensures that your dog will be safe. Both local pubs are dog friendly too. A dog sitting service may be available on request.
Holiday cottage accommodation
This gorgeous house sleeps up to eight guests in four double bedrooms (please note there is a normal occupancy restriction of six adults and two children). Luxury hypoallergenic goose-down duvets are provided in all rooms, but synthetic duvets can be substituted on request. There are two bathrooms, one of which is on the ground floor. Both reception rooms boast traditional open-coal fires along with full central heating, so it really is perfect for breaks at any time of year.
Nearby attractions
The location of the house could not be better, as it is only a few minutes' walk from the renowned, award-winning wedding venue of Newton Hall and just across the road from the well-known Joiner's Arms gastropub. The house is also just a ten-minute stroll from three of the best beaches on the stunning Northumberland coast. The Ship Inn at Low Newton has been voted by The Times as one of the best coastal pubs in the country, serving locally caught seafood and home grown produce as well as a selection of real ales from its on-site microbrewery. Alnwick and Bamburgh are both just a short drive of around 20 minutes away.

Facing the front garden, the lounge is accessed via a spacious central hallway and boasts an original marble fireplace surrounding a working open fire. The lounge is very cosy and comfortable and has a Smart TV
with FreeView. There is a good selection of books, magazines, DVDs and board games catering for all tastes. There is free superfast broadband Wi-Fi internet access throughout the cottage and a
landline for incoming calls only (outgoing calls to emergency and freefone numbers only).
Dining Room
Accessed from the central hallway, the dining room is also at the front of the house. It has an open fireplace and a dining table that can seat eight guests comfortably. There is also a large, wall-mounted Smart TV and an Xbox One games
console.
Kitchen
The kitchen is at the back of the house and has a modern country feel with solid-wood cabinets and solid-stone worktops. Glazed French patio doors lead out to a furnished stone patio in the back garden. The kitchen is
extensively equipped with all the usual appliances for those who like to cook, including a Rangemaster electric cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and espresso coffee maker. An oak breakfast
bar provides informal dining seating for four. There is a compact hi-fi with a Bluetooth docking station.

Accessed by an external side door and leading into the central hallway, this is a huge space with a second drinks fridge, washer / dryer, and a wooden, ceiling-mounted clothes dryer. A warm spacious room separate
from the main living area, this is an ideal space for dogs. Dog beds, fleece dog blankets, and bowls are provided on request.
Ground-Floor Shower Room
Accessed from the central hallway, this room contains a large walk-in shower, wash basin, wc, heated towel rail, shaver point, and illuminated mirror. Luxury toiletries are provided.
Master Bedroom
This is a beautiful, spacious and light room, furnished with luxury Neptune furniture. It enjoys views over the front garden and the quiet village beyond. It has a king-size bed with a luxury mattress, bed linen and fluffy towels. Built-in hanging space and free-standing drawers combine to provide plenty of storage. It also has a wall-mounted Smart TV and an original feature fireplace.

This is another lovely room, with two single beds, with quality mattresses, duvets and bed linen, drawers, and views over the fields and the sea in the distance.
Family Bathroom
This is a traditional bathroom with coastal touches, including a heated towel rail, illuminated mirror, wash basin and wc. It is a very bright room with lots of natural light and a view from the free-standing roll-top bath
over the countryside towards the sea.
Gardens
The private back garden is south facing and completely enclosed by a secure fence that is safe for children and dogs. There is a stone patio with garden furniture, and a charcoal BBQ is also available. For younger
guests, there is also the added benefit of a treehouse with slide. There is also a shed containing a selection of beach toys and picnic furniture, all of which guests are free to use. To the front, there
is an open lawned garden surrounded by borders and bench seating. To the side of the house is a driveway with space for three cars. There is also a free village car park a couple of minutes' walk away.
Children at Leaholme
Leaholme is perfect for children in very way. There is a huge dressing-up trunk, boxes of toys to suit all ages, and a large selection of books, DVDs and board games, not to mention the Xbox One games console (several
games provided). Children will enjoy the front cottage lawn and the enclosed back garden with treehouse and slide. Beach toys are available in the shed. One or two travel cots can be provided on request (please bring
your own cot bedding). A sturdy high-chair is provided in the dining room.

Where is Leaholme Cottage?
Leaholme Cottage is situated in the in the quiet picturesque village of High Newton-by-the-Sea, with access to three of the most stunning sandy beaches in Northumberland: Low Newton (St Mary's Haven), Newton Links (on Beadnell Bay), and Football Hole ('the secret beach'). It is located just yards from the highly renowned Joiner’s Arms and a ten-minute stroll to the famous Ship Inn. Both serve fresh, locally-caught seafood and regional produce.
Exploring nearby
The nearby village of Embleton has a small shop / post office, petrol station, golf club, and three pubs. Slightly farther to the south is the fishing village of Craster, where the Jolly Fisherman pub provides good food, and there is a coastal walk to the imposing Dunstanburgh Castle. Seahouses is the nearest town, just six miles away. Seahouses is a bustling seaside town with a working harbour and a fish smokery in the old quarter. There are lots of shops, restaurants and gift shops, as well the best fish and chips for miles. There is also St Aiden's beach, which has views of Bamburgh Castle in the distance. Bamburgh, a few miles farther north, is a quaint village that has lots to offer in term of old-world charm and history, and regularly features on film and TV.
Inland, 20 minutes away, is the market town of Alnwick, famous for its castle and garden, where you will find a wide variety of shops, supermarkets, places to eat and other services. A regular local bus service joins Alnwick and the coastal villages, including High Newton-by-the-Sea, so it is possible to walk the coastal path without needing a car.
